I love how CS Lewis described God in The lion, the witch and the wardrobe when Lucy asked "Is He safe?" And the answer quickly came back "Of course He isn't safe...but He is good!"
This is the God of the Bible; He is not an old man sitting on a throne; that's why I have sat with you and read about the throne of God described in Revelation 4 and through that we get a vastly different picture. I like to reflect on that scripture even before prayer, just to remember who I am praying to. The living God of the Old Testament roars like a lion (Isaiah 31:4; Jeremiah 25:30; Hosea 11:10; Joel 3:16; Amos 1:2).
Many people have such a low view of God, I am very proud of you in that you hold Him in such a high view. This is vitally important because when we have a low view it's easy to stray, putting ourselves first. With a high view however...He comes first, because although He is loving and gracious toward us...He is not entirely "safe."
